| Bill 22, otherwise known as the Health Professions Act (HPA) was passed by the Alberta Legislature in 2001. The purpose of this act is to bring all of the regulated health professionals involved in the delivery of health care services to Albertans under one legislative framework, eliminating individual acts for each of the 28 regulated professions. Licenced Practical Nurses are a regulated health care profession and thus now are governed by this act. What does this mean to the LPN, both as a professional and as a leader? This lesson will discuss both of these issues, as well as providing the learner with a basic understanding of the HPA. |
