Java Runtime EnvironmentThe Blackboard Vista 4 e-learning environment requires that Java Runtime Environment (JRE) software is installed and functioning correctly on the learner's computer. If the JRE is not present, if it is an incorrect version of the software, or if it is not configured correctly, many of the learning tools in the Vista 4 e-learning environment will not function properly. Most students will find out if they have problems related to the Java Runtime Environment when they test the Assignment Submission tool and the Discussion Group tool later in this setup and configuration process. Windows users and MAC users face different issues in installing, updating and managing the Java Runtime Environment. Please review the JRE information specific to your computer's operating system.
