To complete this assignment, you are to: - Identify the legislative and organizational provisions that address conflict of interest considerations
for elected councillors, municipal employees and individuals snd organizations contracted by a municipality; - Describe the steps you would take to investigate alleged conflict of interest situations in each of these cases;
- Outline your strategies for addressing the issue in each of these situations if your investigations seemed to suggest
that a potential conflict of interest might exist; and, - Examine the implications of the situation that is presented on you own professional practice in terms of personal,
professional and organizational integrity. General Instructions: - This assignment requires you to create a blog on the topic of "Municipal Conflict of Interest Issues" and to make regular postings to your blog throughout the term of the course;
- You are to focus your posts on the issues identified in the Potential Conflict of Interest Scenario;
- You are to make your initial blog posting before dd/mm, and to continue by making at least two additional postings to your blog during each week of the course.
- You are also expected to review the blogs of other class members and respond to the ideas they present and the strategies they suggest for dealing with the conflict of interest situations described in the scenario that is presented.
- Blog posts may vary in length, but by the end of the semester the lengths should break down as follows: 1/3 of posts 500 or more words; 1/3 250 - 500 words; 1/3 100 - 250 words.
- At least half of your posts should contain links to and discussions of relevant outside sources and provide readers with useful information on the topic/issue or to provide a critique or analysis of the topic/issue.
- Your blog entries will be a personal reflection on your reading and thinking about this topic. They can involve a brief personal essay, links to one or more interesting and relevant websites with a brief explanation as to why the links are important, or they can involve a longer critique of a specific author, series of authors, legislation or other organizational provisions that address the topic. Blog entries can also comment on responses by other class members to your blog.
